Winner of the International Children’s Peace Prize in 2016, at just 20 years old Kehkashan Basu is a recognized global leader and influencer, fighting for the environment, peace, and women’s and children’s rights.
She is on the Forbes “30 under 30” list and was the first person to win the Voices Youth Gorbachev-Schultz Legacy Award for her work in nuclear disarmament.
She also holds the titles of United Nations Human Rights Champion, National Geographic Young Explorer and UN Habitat Young City Champion and is the youngest global coordinator of the UN Environment Program’s Major Group for Children & Youth, as well as one of the 25 Top Women of Influence in Canada.
Among her projects is the Green Hope Foundation, which works in 25 countries empowering vulnerable young people through sustainable development. She runs a number of initiatives and is an example of perseverance for an entire generation.
